Ai Weiwei – Signed and Numbered Limited Edition – 2015

An enormous volume detailing the life and work of the Chinese artist Ai Weiwei. This is a signed and numbered limited edition (Number XX of 1,000 copies printed) that was published by Taschen in 2015. It was based on research in  the artist’s own archives, and contains more than 700 pages of colour images and accompanying text, including many previously unpublished images. Features essays from collaborators and acquaintances, as well as interviews with Ai Weiwei undertaken specifically for this book. Accompanied by an original Habotai silk scarf, sized 110cm x 100cm, which reproduces a detail from Ai Weiwei’s art installation Straight. It featured tonnes of steel and rubble from schools that were destroyed in the 2008 Sichuan earthquake. The book comes in the original black clamshell case, plus the customised cardboard box manufactured by Taschen. 715 pages.
